Privacy Policy
CONNECT is a professional networking platform operated by CardBook. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to connect.cardbook.biz and the CONNECT service.
Who we are
The data controller is CardBook, operator of CONNECT. For any privacy question or request, contact us at office@cardbook.biz.
Data we collect
- Account & profile: name, email address, phone number, company, position, photo, bio, what you're looking for and offering, industry, community memberships, and other profile fields you provide.
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Event applications & RSVPs: the information you submit to apply for or confirm attendance at an event.
- Activity: introduction requests, saved members, and similar in-product actions needed to run the service.
- Technical: basic log and device data (such as IP address and browser) generated when you use the site, used for security and reliability.
How we use it
- To create and operate your account and the member directory.
- To arrange introductions between members and to power event participation.
- To send you service messages — invitations, confirmations, reminders, and important notices.
- To keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We rely on your consent (which you give when you register) and our legitimate interest in running the networking service as the legal bases for this processing.
What other members see
CONNECT is a directory: your profile (name, photo, company, position, bio, and what you seek/offer) is visible to other signed-in members so they can connect with you. Your email and phone number are not shown in the public directory. Introductions are arranged through our concierge; your contact details are only shared when an introduction goes ahead.
Service providers
We use trusted processors that handle data on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect it:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Resend — sending transactional email.
- Google — optional sign-in.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. You can manage non-essential cookies through the banner shown on your first visit. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, security, or accounting obligations.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit most of your data directly in your profile, or contact us at office@cardbook.biz to exercise any of these rights.
Security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, access controls, and reputable infrastructure — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to notify you of any material breach where required by law.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
